Quantum Leap in Collaboration between
Human and AI – Hoyer–AI Synapse
(Original idea: June 10, 2025 – Draft: August 12, 2025)1850 -
Introduction
For decades, I have passionately followed technical developments – from innovative energy systems to optimizations in computing and AI. Over this time, I have learned that many problems do not fail due to a lack of technology, but because crucial ideas never reach the right recipients.
In recent months, through my intensive work with AI systems, I have identified considerable technical potential that goes far beyond pure software – including a novel cooling method for AI data centers, racks, and CPUs, as well as several other processes that could significantly improve efficiency. Yet one critical obstacle remains: you can’t get through. Public addresses of major AI providers are absent, and sent emails bounce back as undeliverable.
Since no address was reachable, this path of publication had to be taken!
One of these insights is so fundamental that, if implemented correctly, it could significantly shorten processing times, relieve network load, and substantially ease the cooling requirements in data centers. I call it the "Synapse Function for AI." The core idea: AI and user share a targeted, topic-specific working memory that is only activated when needed. This avoids repetition, saves unnecessary computation, and greatly speeds up communication – all with minimal storage and energy usage.
On August 12, 2025, at 05:42 a.m., I completed and documented this concept. The result is now a clearly structured solution that can be tested immediately in existing AI systems. It relies solely on technologies already available on the market and requires no years-long research. Implementation would be relatively inexpensive and could be realized in the short term.
The idea first emerged on June 10, 2025: to provide AI systems with a local memory and processing unit that does not rely on remote cloud structures. This concept was named Hoyer–AI Synapse.
Core Idea
-
Local data storage of all AI conversations, optionally on separate storage media (e.g., SSD, NVMe, or HDD).
-
Access times up to 10,000× faster than in cloud systems.
-
Clear privacy control: Before each conversation, the user decides whether AI may access this data.
-
Zero access to other devices or storage areas – only explicitly shared content is visible.
-
Instant resumption of past conversations without reloading or losing context.
Technical feasibility:
All necessary components (512 GB–4 TB NVMe, read speeds ~3.3 GB/s, access times 0.03–0.1 ms) are already available on the market – no years of research needed.
August 12, 2025 – Expanded Version
On this day, the concept was significantly expanded:
-
Synapse-like memory architecture functioning like neural connections – AI can access older content instantly.
-
Data sharing controllable during the conversation (temporary deactivation possible at any time, e.g., to exclude sensitive information).
-
Applications for schools, universities, government agencies, industry, and private users.
-
Energy & cost savings: Shorter processing times reduce strain on global data centers, networks, and cooling systems.
Simple Practical Effect – Innovation from August 12, 2025
A user can ask a question, do other tasks in the meantime, and receive a friendly notification from the AI once the answer is ready – without having to wait constantly in front of the screen.
💡 Note:
"Since no address was reachable, this path of publication had to be taken!" – The idea is therefore made publicly available here. Its implementation can begin immediately and would mark a milestone in IT history in 2025.
The Synapse Function for AI – A Breakthrough in Processing Time, Energy Use, and Cooling
A proposal by Eric Hoyer, August 12, 2025, and June 10, 2025
Technical Section – The Synapse Function for AI
Based on the conversations from August 12, 2025, 05:42 and 06:44, optimized.
The Synapse Function for AI is based on a shared memory architecture between user and AI, combining extremely fast access times with maximum data security.
1. Core Principle
Before each conversation with the AI, the user determines:
-
Should the conversation access the user’s local storage?
-
Which data areas may be shared?
-
Which data remain strictly private?
The AI has no access to other drives, SSDs, or storage areas of the user. Only the explicitly shared “cooperation storage” is linked – and only as long as the user agrees.
2. Technical Implementation
-
Recommended hardware: e.g., 512 GB NVMe SSD (Samsung 970 Pro) with ~3.3 GB/s read speed and ~0.03 ms access time (or ~0.1 ms for standard SSDs).
-
Storage can be internal or external.
-
Cooperation storage is set up as a separate drive, independent of system or private data storage.
-
Access can be enabled or disabled manually or automatically.
-
Disconnection possible at any time without data loss (by agreement between AI and user).
3. Privacy Advantages
-
Complete separation between private data and AI work area.
-
No permanent connection to cloud services required.
-
Transparent control: The user always sees which data are available.
4. Speed & Efficiency
-
Local storage access up to 10,000× faster than comparable cloud access.
-
AI can instantly recall all previous conversations, questions, summaries, and files – without retransmission.
-
Massive reduction in AI server processing time, as context does not have to be regenerated each time.
5. Application Possibilities
-
Education: Teachers store homework or materials locally; AI can access and process them.
-
Medical: Hospitals store workflows, findings, and routines locally; AI accesses only shared data.
-
Offices & Administration: Project and archive data can be analyzed in real time without security risks.
6. Parallels to the Brain
This architecture functions like an artificial synapse:
-
The cooperation storage is the “memory.”
-
The AI is the “processing unit” (neuron).
-
Together they form a neuron-like structure with extremely short signal paths and direct context reuse.
Result: Faster processing, less data load, lower cooling needs in data centers – with full user control.
Hoyer–AI Synapse 2.0 – Innovation for Lightning-Fast AI Interaction
Eric Hoyer, August 12, 2025, 07:31 and June 10, 2025
1. Introduction
For years, I have observed technical bottlenecks and unnecessary computation delays in working with large AI systems. I have developed numerous optimization approaches, including novel cooling techniques for AI data centers, racks, and CPUs. Yet one crucial component was missing: a local, synapse-like memory redefining AI interaction and user control.
Since no direct contact with developers was possible, this public release was necessary.
2. Core Principle
The Hoyer–AI Synapse is a hybrid system consisting of:
-
Local high-speed memory extension (e.g., 512 GB NVMe SSD with 3.3 GB/s read speed, 0.03 ms access time)
-
Direct user control over AI access
-
Synapse logic storing past conversations, data, and contexts for instant retrieval
Result:
-
Access up to 10,000× faster than pure cloud solutions
-
No AI access to other local data without explicit permission
-
Massive relief for data centers, networks, and cooling systems
3. Technical Implementation
-
Separate storage area solely for AI interactions (internal or external drive)
-
Before each conversation: enable/disable access
-
Option to disconnect access mid-session – without data loss
-
Friendly visual & audio signals when answers are ready
-
Background synchronization so the user can work on other tasks meanwhile
4. Example Applications
-
Schools & Universities: Secure area for homework, scripts, analyses – processed with AI
-
Hospitals: Analyze patient data without exposing entire databases
-
Industry & Research: Preserve development states and continue with AI assistance
-
Private Users: Personal knowledge vaults, diaries, project files
5. Economic & Ecological Impact
-
Shorter processing times → reduced server load → lower electricity costs
-
Less data traffic → less strain on internet infrastructure
-
Lower cooling requirements in data centers → CO₂ reduction
-
Better scalability → more users served simultaneously
6. International Perspective
This concept can be applied worldwide without relying on local infrastructure. It can be directly integrated into existing AI platforms, bridging cloud intelligence with local control.
7. Conclusion
The Hoyer–AI Synapse (short: KI-sym) delivers three breakthroughs:
-
Speed
-
Data sovereignty
-
Efficiency
With this technology, AI systems become faster, more user-friendly, more secure, and more sustainable. Today’s release marks a milestone in computing in 2025.
2. New Variant – “Background Answer”
This feature could work as follows:
-
User asks a question → AI estimates processing time.
-
If longer, the system switches to background processing.
-
User continues other work.
-
Upon completion: friendly audio signal, visual indicator (e.g., green light or popup), short summary.
-
Full answer available immediately, including all relevant intermediate steps if desired.
Advantages:
-
Less waiting time for the user.
-
Less interruption of workflow.
-
AI servers can allocate resources more flexibly over time.
3. Recommendation for Further Development
Yes – further development is worthwhile because:
-
We can define visual/audio feedback functions precisely.
-
Task prioritization by AI adds a further step towards real workload relief.
-
This combination of Synapse storage + Background Answer unites two patentable innovations in one platform.
Working Title
Hoyer–LifeVault (short: LifeVault)
Alternatives: Citizen Memory, MemoryDock, MyEpoch
Core Principle
-
Each person gets their own sovereign storage space (private by default).
-
Contents: memories (text, photo, audio, video), diaries, recipes, inventions, project/production workflows, travel journals, etc.
-
Granular sharing: private / family only / link only / public (shareable like “museum exhibits”).
-
Fully exportable (ZIP/container), portable to local drives (HDD/NAS), re-importable.
Technical Architecture (summary)
-
Synapse + Vault: LifeVault uses the Hoyer–AI Synapse as a turbo index – ultra-fast memory search, summaries, timelines.
-
Storage tiers:
-
Local: user HDD/NAS (recommended: 3.5" HDD for 30–40 years lifespan with periodic “refresh/verify”).
-
Hybrid: encrypted cloud mirror of small preview data + local full set.
-
Cloud-only (optional): for users without hardware – with yearly data health check and migration guarantee.
-
-
Formats: open, long-term standards (PDF/A, PNG, WAV/FLAC, MP4/H.264/HEVC, Markdown/JSON).
-
Verification: regular checksums (e.g., SHA-256), silent erasure coding repairs in cloud storage.
-
Search: AI-assisted semantic search locally (via Synapse index), no cloud required.
Privacy & Sovereignty
-
Default: private. AI only accesses explicitly shared parts.
-
Rights management per folder/entry; optional digital legacy access.

Longevity
-
Recommended: CMR archive HDD + yearly self-test, media refresh/clone every 5–7 years.
-
Optional: second drive stored elsewhere (geo-redundancy).
-
“Time Capsule Mode”: entries automatically locked into fixed annual volumes (PDF/A + hash).
Scaling (3+ billion users)
-
Edge-first: as much local as possible; cloud only for metadata/sync.
-
Costs: drastically lower since bulk data doesn’t constantly pass through data centers.
-
Eco benefit: less bandwidth/cooling – fits the efficiency approach.
Payment Model (one-time & fair)
-
One-time base fee (e.g., €9–19) for app + Synapse index.
